For technical rock climbing, the most important knot is the Figure Eight Follow Through.
On the pages that follow, you will find an in-depth, animated tutorial on how to tie the figure eight follow-through knot.
The frames for this animation were produced by a program I wrote just for this purpose. The program was written in C using the OpenGL library on the Microsoft Windows platform. Post-processing of the frames, and the construction of the final GIF animations was done using GifSicle on my Linux box.
This project was submitted as my final project for my course Principles of Computer Graphics in Computer Science at Yale University.
