More about Columbine
For the curious.
My name is pronounced COL-um-bine, and rhymes with "elder wine" and
"silver mine" and "borderline." I'm Columbine both on and off the
Net. Here are some of the reasons why I chose Columbine for my name:
- Columbines are one of my favorite flowers. They're 5-sided, often
two different colors per blossom, and "upside down," and come in just
about any color you can imagine.
- Columbine is a character in the Commedia dell'Arte, the classic
lowbrow comedy of the Middle Ages and beyond - a racy jokester who
loves to make fun of stodgy and clueless people.
- Richard Dadd painted a portrait entitled "Columbine," of a woman
who is beautiful through her sense of wonder rather than through
conformity to any contemporary standards of beauty. (Or at least
that's how I like to think of her!)
- And most of all - in the Victorian Language
of Flowers,
columbines signify "folly." My baby-name, Hilda, meant "battle," and
it fit me all too well. I can fight for anything and win, but I
wanted to adopt a less oppositional attitude - the attitude symbolized
by the Fool in the Tarot. The Fool isn't somebody "foolish," but
someone without prejudices, who can accept what the world hs to offer,
and who looks at life's lessons as adventures rather than trials.
I was born June 11, 1961 in Proctor, VT at about 5:45 PM. My brother,
Alan, was born in the same place on June 13, 1963. He's cool.
I am Pagan, which means I honor the Earth and
try to be a healthy part of Her living body.
I don't drive a car - most times I take the MBTA.
I strongly dislike wearing shoes, and my feet concur.
I like just about any food or drink except raw cabbage, and am an
excellent cook. I particularly enjoy seafood, prepared just about any
way but overcooked, and I like to drink beer or snakebite (I use Cider
Jack and Red Hook ESB).
I don't particularly like being required to wear clothes, but I
do enjoy dressing up when I can.
I'm 5'9" tall, and weigh about 200 lbs. My hair is coppery and
my eyes grey-green, but both vary widely with the light.
The most beautiful place I've ever visited is Eryri (Snowdonia) in
North Wales. Please go there if you get the chance, and bring a
camera!
I'm allergic to tobacco smoke.

fly
- My honesty and trustworthiness
Here are some "frailties" for which I'm occasionally offered cures.
Most times I decline politely:
- BDSM doesn't do anything for me. (The nickname for this condition
is "vanilla." Click here to see a
picture of a vanilla orchid.)
- I'm not interested in monogamy.
- I don't want to have children.
- I'm omnivorous.
This is what I look like:
