Shipwreck
by Columbine
Though I have loved, and been loved in return,
And ridden that false dawn's exalting breeze
Danced in Passion's sweet flame until black-burned
And navigated Trust's hull-shattering seas
Upon a shore more wonderful than these
I've come to rest, and on its soothing strand
A treasure gathered of realities
In silence, for few souls have found that land
Where quiet tombstones dot the moonlit sand
Marked: Fear, Complacence, Jealousy, and Need
And if someone there offers you their hand
It's Friendship's, and an open hand indeed
To marble monuments our hearts have turned
Honoring what, despite ourselves, we've learned.
