Underground Railroad

by Columbine

When the wind falls still
And the shadows grow
Then we strike our camp
In the moon's pale glow
Our destination beneath our feet
For the future's hidden, but the present can be sweet

And the North Star shines
And the well runs deep
And we walk the line
While the Sun's child sleeps
And we pray our hearts and minds our souls to keep
On the long road home

Got no pillar of fire
No holy book
All we got is our eyes
And the will to look
And we got no shepherd
So we got no crook
Just the road we walk and the chance we took

Once I was afraid
And I turned to run
Found myself staring down the barrel of a gun
And I couldn't run
And I can't hide
From my faithful shadow who's always by my side
