Web designing is great fun! All these cool free
services, nifty Javascript tricks, pretty effects...
...can be used to tremendous effect, or just end up a pile of
gratuitous, browser-choking clutter.
The Shiny Things Award is for those Web sites that make good use of the wonderful possibilities out there, and apply them judiciously rather than profligately, to make a page that works well for all users and accomplishes what it sets out to do.
The Shiny Things Award recognizes those who use the Web to exploit its vast potential, rather than getting lost in all the slow-loading and browser-specific toys available.
The Shiny Things Award can not be applied for. By all means feel free to suggest a site, but don't expect it to win - this award is very subjective, and reflects a little-appreciated and seldom-seen attitude toward the balance of form and function.
And if you want to know what I mean - visit the winners!
