The choices museums make about how to reconstruct shattered objects is always interesting. I liked what they did here, putting the surviving sections in the proper relationship to each other without trying to fill in the holes.

This piece represents a variation of the legend of the sacrifice of Iphigenia by her father, Agamemnon, in which she was whisked out of danger at the last moment by Artemis, who replaced the human sacrifice with a deer.
