Action Ambulance Service, Inc. - Wilmington, Massachusetts
2003-2005 - Emergency Medical Technician - Basic
Responsible for care of patients in a pre-hospital setting, including identifying, evaluating, and treating life-threatening injuries or medical issues, safely and quickly extricating and transporting patients to protocol-specified medical facilities, and liaising with patients, their family members, and medical staff. Other responsibilities included confidential documentation of patient care and medical history, remaining current on state and federal guidelines and protocols for emergency medicine and legal accountability, and cleaning and stocking ambulances while maintaining regular reporting on vehicle status and damage. In addition to these regular duties, developed documentation and coursework for training and re-training of new and existing employees.

2005 - Dispatcher
Received and dispatched 911, emergency, and non-emergent calls for ambulance personnel and services. Required to communicate effectively with ambulance crews, local law enforcement agencies, fire departments, other rescue organizations, and the general public, while using computer aided dispatch software to assist in keeping track of incidents, vehicles, call load, and response times.

United Safety Marshalls - Reading, Massachusetts
1997-Present - Corner Captain
The United Safety Marshalls are considered the leading authority on Motorcycle Road Race Safety and Risk Management in the U.S., serving race tracks in New Hampshire, Virginia, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, Florida, Ohio, and others. Corner workers are responsible for maintaining race tracks in a safe operating condition. When track conditions change, responsibilities include informing riders of problems by the use of flags and hand signals, and rectification of issues in the safest/quickest manner possible. Workers also aid fallen riders and clean the track of debris, oil, and motorcycles, often in a "hot track" situation. As a corner captain, responsible for all of the above, including supervision of workers and scene, radio communication with race control, determination of scene safety and need for medical assistance, along with rapid decision of whether racing continues during clean-up. Additional duties include assisting Emergency Medical Response teams in determining mechanism of injury, and packaging. As a senior staff member, also responsible for continual auditing of practices, and contributing to the development of better and more efficient safety methodologies.

Systems administration and network support for router manufacturer, acquired by Lucent Technologies. Responsible for migration to Lucent systems and procedures, while maintaining a stable development environment. Hardware and software support for Solaris 2.4-8 machines running Sendmail Pro, Sendmail Switch, Solstice/Legato Networker, nfs, and nis+.

The MITRE Corporation - Bedford, Massachusetts
1998-1999 - Network and Distributed Systems Engineer
Systems administration and support as part of a multi-site team for MITRE's Advanced Technical Computing Center (ATCC). Duties included helping to administer an enterprise-wide network of configuration-managed, multi-platform systems that provide a stable but flexible compute environment for MITRE's Technology Program. Operating systems supported included Solaris, Linux, and IRIX, and peripherally included Windows 95 and NT. Transarc's AFS was used to provide server and site independent enterprise-wide reliable file sharing. Other responsibilities included managing an information/knowledge sharing team composed of both senior and junior staff members of the ATCC, with a focus on internal public relations and user education.

The LeftBank Operation - Somerville, Massachusetts
1996-1998 - Consultant / Systems Administrator / Minister of Culture & Attitude
Systems administrator at a small, but at the time rapidly growing technical startup (later acquired by Exodus Communications). Performed a wide variety of tasks in-house and for clients, quickly becoming expert in anything a customer required, from hardware building to software configuration to wiring. Was primarily responsible for basic UNIX system administration, including installation, configuration, and maintenance of hardware, Solaris and SunOS operating systems, plus user and system software. Also had responsibility for basic system level security audits, DNS/hostmaster and postmaster duties, backups and restores. Basic network administration included TCP/IP, BIND/DNS, NIS/YP, Cisco routers and LocalDirector, BGP, AppleTalk, Cabletron SmartSwitch, and Cat5 wiring. Software included sendmail, Open Market and Apache web servers, Raptor firewalls, SecurID, majordomo (including formal user training), MajorCool, and familiarity with Legato and Amanda backup systems. Provided user and server support for Macintoshes and PCs, including NT web server maintenance/MSQL/IIS/AdManager. Extensive experience in customer support and telephone troubleshooting. Also involved in project management, customer site management, documentation of procedures and systems, recruiting, interviewing, hiring process, and some HR policy development.

Software Tool & Die (The World) - Brookline, Massachusetts
1995-1996 - Technical Support Engineer
Provided hardware and software support, via telephone and email, for customers of The World, a regional New England Internet Service Provider. Specialty: UNIX support (IRIX on SGI Challenge), but with a large percentage of telephone troubleshooting of remote desktop systems (Macs/PCs/UNIX boxes) attempting to connect to the internet. Developed technical documentation for UNIX and GUI tools towards that end. Performed UNIX backups and restores. Trained new part-time support personnel.

Arthur D. Little, Inc. - Cambridge, Massachusetts
1994-1995 - Communications Specialist/Technical Support Specialist, NAMCD
Performed telephone and office support of approximately 400 users in Cambridge and regional offices with Macintosh, PC, Novell network-related problems, including setup and support of NAMCD users at client sites with client/NAMCD networking issues. Responsible for hardware/software inventory, as well as basic database administration and design for Directorate resources. Tracked and evaluated current and future Directorate technology needs, and recommended software/hardware solutions.

1992-1994 - Communications Specialist/Assistant Technical Coordinator, Management Analysis
Created, edited, and improved the quality of graphics while applying corporate standards. Participated in technology evaluation and information dissemination to Directorate. Trained employees in the use of software, hardware, and systems, both formally and informally. Troubleshot problems in software and hardware as well as large processes in the document creation/communication process. Monitored upgrades/ disbursement of upgrades in software and hardware, and implemented changes in corporate standards as necessary. Involved in graphic design, complex graphing, desktop publishing, animation, the integration of multimedia elements, sound editing, interactive and video presentations.
