This was the last, fortunately, in a string of shows that I just didn't get around to writing anything about in a timely fashion, so I'll just put down what I remember about the show a week and a half later. Presley seemed like a completely different band than the other time I saw them. I distinctly remember being underwhelmed by lightweight, middle-of-the-road pop songs. Instead, we got a set-long ramble of power-psychedelia. Very good playing, and very engaging stuff, although (as you might expect with a long psychedelic ramble) not much of it really sticks in my mind a week later.
Blitzkriegbliss' drummer also played in the first band that played this evening, although I missed it, so he started drinking when that band was done, and he was pretty trashed by the time BKB's set rolled around. It was kind of a trainwreck, with him wandering somewhat helplessly around the beat and flailing whenever the song did something sudden or tricky. And these are some sudden and tricky songs. It was an entertaining trainwreck, and Sophia's frustration probably contributed to her vocal fierceness, which is all to the good. But it will not, I think, be remembered as one of their finest hours.
